My first sighting of a wild mountain lion was while out walking the dog a few years ago. We had just finished our walk and were back in the pickup truck for only a few minutes, when a huge cougar crossed about 100 feet directly in front of us. That moment left a lasting impression with the realization I had just laid eyes on one of the most elusive animals in the country, and had been out walking in the same spot only a few minutes earlier.
