An old photo I took of one of the many scenic twists and turns on the Wapiti River served as the backdrop for this 30 X 48 inch oil painting I titled “On The Wapiti”. A bull elk steps out of the September aspens and echoes a challenge across the water to a rival as he tends to his cows. Visualizing this composition through that photo came easy, as memorable moments of past jet boat trips during elk season flooded my mind.
