I've always loved to paint moose and this piece was sparked by a hunt I was on with my dad and brother when we were about 15 and 16 years old. My brother and I were sitting in a clearing calling for moose and it was the first time in my life that I actually had one call back (possibly because my voice had finally changed). The bush cracking loudly and to us it sounded like a freight train, with visions of a colossal beast walking out which had us both near heart failure. The moose must of sensed something was wrong and never showed himself but the memory of what he might of looked like was burned in my mind.
