Every spring I get the urge to paint bears and 2022 was no exception. This painting I’ve titled “Mountain Momma” is how I decided to express that compulsion this year. Set to a Rocky Mountain backdrop with her head just above the skyline I wanted to express a powerful and protective presence to this mother grizzly standing over her new cubs. Inspiration for this piece flowed through me as I can still recall as a child that same sense of security from my own mom so many years ago.
