Sometimes a story conveyed to me from someone can become the basis to a new painting. One of these stories was of a man out in the bush hunting elk with his father, when from out of the dark timber came a large grizzly bear at full charge. A quick warning shot sent over the bears head from his .300 Winchester ended the charge as the bear spun and ran off. I was so thoroughly absorbed by the way the story was told and so vividly described that it made the hair stand on the back of my neck. This intense visualization led to the painting I titled “In Harms Way”.
